Community Service

107th Birthday celebrations at St Paul's Nursing Home

As a Christian school we aim to develop in all  students empathy for other members in our society - whether that be local, national or global. Christ has asked us to serve others in response for what he has done for us. At St. Michael's we can serve and show empathy in a variety of ways.

Each term the SRC choose an organisation that we can assist. This may be the Cora Barclay Centre, Jeans for Genes, Tsunami / Earthquake appeals, World Vision. Offerings are collected on Fridays to support the chosen organisation along with special plain clothes and crazy hair days.

During the year each class has also taken on a community project. This has included visiting the retirement villages, childcare centre, picking up rubbish, providing supper for CFS workers. It is important that students understand that service also includes helping those locally.

Christmas Boxes

For several years the students and their families have supported the organisation, 'Samaritan's Purse' by filling shoe boxes with gifts at Christmas time for children less fortunate than ourselves. St Michael's families have been extremely generous and we were very proud to send over 120 Christmas Child Boxes to needy children in Cambodia & Thailand in 2015.
